Care

Once your tape hair extensions have been applied do not shampoo your hair for 48 hours. This will allow enough time for the bond to adhere and ensure that your extensions will not slip out prematurely. Prior to sleeping, brush pull your hair back into a soft ponytail/bun or plait to prevent matting and knotting .If you experience slippage or any discomfort, contact us to determine the cause & remedy for the situation. The first few nights you may feel slight discomfort.

Brushing

Brush hair minimum twice a day with a hair extensions brush recommend by your stylist. Do not use hard brush strokes. Separate your hair into 3 sections using your fingers and slowly brush close to the scalp to the ends. Do not use a hard bristled brush or fine tooth comb it will cause extensions to slip out. Use an extension brush to gently remove tangles from mid-strands to hair ends. Do not use a comb near the scalp area and the hair extensions.

Washing

Use only shampoo and conditioner recommended by your stylist. Always brush your hair before getting it wet. This helps prevent any further knots that might occur when its being washed. It will be a little bit more difficult to wash but try to use your fingers in an up and down motion and side to side rather than circular. Always use a ‘leave in’ product after shampooing and conditioning.

Styling

Curling irons, straighteners, and hot rollers may be used on your hair extensions, but keep them at least 3cm to 4cm away from the hair bond. Never use a hair dryer on high heat close to your scalp.

Why cant i sleep with my hair out?

Sleeping with your hair extensions out can cause matting, knotting, pulling on your extensions causing tension on your scalp and extensions can be pulled from your scalp. and irruption to your scalp can be caused. We recommend brushing twice daily and sleeping in a low plait.

Why cant i use supermarket shampoos and conditioners?

These products are not recommended as they contain ingredients that can dry out hair extensions, cause extensions to slip and cause harmful build up on your hair and the extensions.

Why cant i swim with my extensions?

Salt and chlorine will damage your extensions, as extensions do not get any natural oils from your scalp they are prone to being drier already, clipping or tying up and not getting your hair wet is always first option, or having your hair in a plait and then wetting your hair down with normal water first, adding a conditioner or treatment ( if you can) and then swimming and rinsing after with normal water. And washing as normal as soon as possible.

Why cant i condition the tops of my extensions?

this can cause extension to slip from your hair or slip and pull your hair causing damage. it can also cause irritation on the scalp.

Why cant i bleach or lighten, chemically straighten, perm my extensions?

Extensions are already coloured when we receive them, they have been through chemical services to lighten, darken, even straighten and smooth to make them what you see now. so this means they can be unpredictable when we lighten and they can be damaged very easily. This is why we match your colour to the extensions, unless we are adding tone.

we will not lighten, chemically or permanently straighten extensions. This includes purple shampoo as extensions take to purple shampoo differently than our natural hair. We recommend only purple shampooing your own hair, and if needed on the extensions a half half mix of regularly shampoo and purple and very quickly.

Why cant i use repair products on my hair?

We don’t recommend using protein on your hair extensions as it will cause them to become brittle and dry out, which will causing them to knot and matt. Extensions crave moisture and that should be the only thing you are using on your extensions.

Why do i need to wash my hair regularly and not touch the bonds?

Exercise, Sweating, touching the bonds creates oils causing extensions to slip, move, become sticky and fall out or even cause irritation and itching around the bonds. Washing minimum twice a week is recommended, Brushing while hair is dry before you wash. If you exercising or are sweating daily we recommend washing more regularly but no more than 3 times per week.

Why cant i heat style daily? or apply heat to the bonds?

Over curling/straightening your hair and extensions will cause damage to your hair and then extensions, heat styling is the number one cause of damage no matter how much heat protection you use. we recommend only heat styling the day of washing and drying. so between 2-3 times a week, a leave in hydration cream and heat protector is a must.

this will reduce the life span of your extensions causing them to become dry and brittle.

applying heat with blowdryer or styling iron can either cause the extensions to slip out, damage the bonds or even cause the extensions to get stuck in your hair, you must not leave the bond of extensions wet or damp.

Why cant i leave my hair and extensions wet?

Hair is in its weakest form when wet so knotting and matting can occur, which then causes tensions on the scalp and bonds when brushing out.The bonds of extensions can also slip while wet, as the tape doesn’t like to be left wet and will weaken it over time. Drying the bonds and extensions with medium heat with your fingers first till about 70-80% dry then using a brush is ideal to smooth out the extensions.
